 Forklift Attachments Arizona - The US state of Arizona is located within the southwestern area of the country. The state is part of the mountain west and the western United States. The largest city and the states capital is Phoenix. Tucson is the 2nd largest city, followed in size by eight Phoenix metropolitan area cities: Glendale, Mesa, Scottsdale, Chandler, Gilbert, Tempe, Peoria, Surprise and next by Yuma within Yuma County.
Arizona State is the 48th state and last among the contiguous states admitted to the Union, achieving statehood on the 14th of February, 1912. The state of Arizona is noted for its desert weather, exceptionally hot summertimes, and mild winters, but it also features mountain ranges and pine forests within the northern high country, with much cooler climate as opposed to the lower deserts.
Arizona State is amongst the Four Corners states. New Mexico, Utah, California and Nevada borders Arizona State, Colorado State touches the state too. Also, there is a 389-mile (626 km) international border Baja California and the Mexican state of Sonora. It is the biggest landlocked U.S. state by population. In addition to the Grand Canyon, lots of other national monuments, forests and parks are located within the state of Arizona, although more than a quarter of its territory is Federal Trust Land that serves as the home of the Tohono O'odham, the Navajo Nation, the Hopi tribe, Yaqui and Apache people and various Yuman tribes, such as the Quechan, Hualapai and Yavapai.
The 2006 total gross state product was $232 billion. If the state of Arizona were an independent country together with all existing countries, in 2005, it would have had the 61st biggest economy in the world, according to the CIA World Factbook. This figure gives Arizona State a bigger economy as opposed to nations as New Zealand, Ireland and Finland. Arizona State currently has the 21st largest economy among states within the United States. As a percentage of its overall budget, the estimated $1.7 billion deficit of Arizona for the year 2009 is among the largest within the country, behind such states as California, Texas, Florida and Michigan, to name some.
The per capita income of the state is $40,828, ranking 39th in the U.S. Arizona State had a median household income of $50,958 making it 22nd within the nation and just shy of the U.S. national median. Early in its history, the economy of Arizona State relied on the "five C's": cotton, cattle, copper, citrus, and climate (tourism). At one point Arizona State was the largest producer of cotton in the country. Copper is still extensively mined from numerous expansive open-pit and underground mines, responsible for two-thirds of the nation's output.
The state government is Arizona's largest employer, while Wal-Mart is the state's leading private business, with 17,343 staff in 2008. As of the month of June 2010, the state's unemployment rate is 9.6%.
Nearly 70% of the land within Arizona State is owned by the U.S. government, which rents a part of the public domain to ranchers or miners.
