Forklift Attachments Ontario - Ontario is a beautiful city located within San Bernardino County, in the state of California. Originally from Canada, George Chaffey, who was an engineer, started the Ontario Model Colony development during the year 1882. The city was named after the province Ontario, Canada, by Charles Chaffey and George Williams. It is the 18th largest city in Southern California with a population of about 170,373 individuals.
The economy of Ontario was historically shaped due to it having a reputation as a health resort. The local farmers planted lemon and orange groves, as they thrived within the cities rocky soil. Olive growers and vintners also were attracted to the city. Among the cities historical landmarks is The Graber Olive House, which is still in business nowadays. Another business which is still common is Dairy farming.
The La/Ontario International airport, that is located within Ontario, is considered to be the 15th busiest cargo airport within the United States. The city is well situated to deal with most freight traffic from the Los Angeles and Long Beach ports. Ontario is the home of Ontario Mills and used to be the home of Ontario Motor Speedway until it was demolished during nineteen eighty.
General Electric had a main plant in the area prior to WWII. A huge arrival of settlers caused in part by the expansion of the Southern California defense industry, made Ontario their home through and after WWII.
As the manufacturing business declined within the area; the economy of Ontario is currently dominated by service industries and warehousing. Today, the most notable manufacturing company is the Maglite co-corporation, manufacturers of flashlights. The New Model Colony idea which the city has created plans to take southern Ontario, that is currently an area dominated by dairy farms and agricultural farming, and turn it into various residential houses, business and industrial parks in addition to town centers.
The famous Stars and Straps clothing business was established in Ontario.
