Dayton's surrounding metropolitan area includes Centerville, Beavercreek, Trotwood, Kettering and Vandalia. The city of Dayton is still a "gem", with its various shops, restaurants, sports facilities, spacious parks, a thriving downtown district, lively arts community, and sites of historical value.
Dayton's thriving cultural scene comprises dance, theater, visual arts and music. The city has built a reputation as a place for culture and entertainment due to organizations like for example the Dayton ballet and the Dayton Art Institute.
