 Forklift Attachments Minneapolis - The city of Minneapolis is the county seat of the county of Hennepin. It was referred to as "City of Lakes" and "Mill City." Minneapolis is the 48th largest in the USA and is the biggest city in the State of Minnesota. The name is attributed to the area's first schoolteacher. He combined the Dakota word water "mni" and the Greek word for city that is, "polis."
The city of Minneapolis is situated on the banks of the Mississippi River. It lies just north of the river's confluence with the Minnesota River and adjoins Saint Paul, the state's capital. Saint Paul-Minnesota is knick-named the "Twin Cities." They form the country's 16th largest area. There are roughly 2.3 million residents residing here.
According to the Census of the year 2010, the population of the city of Minneapolis came in at 383,578. The city has over 20 lakes and wetlands and is abundantly rich in water. The waterfalls, creeks and Mississippi river make the area gorgeous. The Chain of Lakes and the Grand Rounds Scenic Byway interconnect many of the parkways in the city.
Minneapolis was previously considered to be a hub for timber and the flour milling capital of the world. Today, the city of Minneapolis has become the primary business center between Seattle and Chicago. There are different cultural organizations in the city of Minneapolis that bring people to the city for visual art, writing, theatre and music. The diverse population the city has a history of tradition of plenty of charitable support programs through Minneapolis in the form of progressive public school programs and private and corporate philanthropy.
Until the explorers from France arrived around 1680, the Dakota Sioux were the sole inhabitants within the region. During the year 1819, Fort Snelling was constructed by the U.S. Army. This new fort brought a large amount growth within the region. The Mdewakanton band of Dakota was pressed by the American government to sell their land and this transaction, allowed people arriving from the east to live there.
During 1856, the Minnesota Territorial Legislature authorized the existing Minneapolis as a township on Mississippi's west bank. In the year 1867, Minneapolis was incorporated as a city. Rail service started that same year between the cities of Chicago and Minneapolis. In the year 1872, it eventually joined with the east bank of St. Anthony.
The main economy of the city nowadays is centered on finance, commerce, trucking services, industry, rail services and health care. There are smaller aspects to the economy that are equally as vital like for example: insurance, food processing, high technology, graphic arts, publishing and milling. Automotive products, electronics, machinery, agricultural and chemical products, plastics and precision medical instruments are among the major parts of the industrial industry. Before, Minneapolis was recognized for making farm implements.

In 2005, Minneapolis was named the "Top Tech City" within the US by Popular Science. This is due to the wide availability of Wi-Fi, medical trials, university development expenditures, energy conservation and advanced degrees held by the work force all being so far higher than the national average.
