 Forklift Attachments Grand Prairie - The Texas city of Grand Prairie is situated in the mid-cities region and sits within three different counties: Dallas, Ellis, and Tarrant. Currently, it has a population of around 176,000, making it the 15th largest city within Texas.
Grand Prairie City is conveniently situated in between the bigger cities of Dallas and Fort Worth. Fort Worth City is located fifteen miles to the west, while Dallas City is only 12 miles east of downtown. Just five minutes north of Grand Prairie, is the DFW International Airport. The Interstate 30, Interstate 20, Spur 303, State Highway 360 and Loop 12 are easily accessible from the city of Grand Prairie, allowing residents access to just about anywhere in the state of Texas. Now being built is a ten mile extension of State Highway 161 to Interstate 20. Its projected completion date is during 2012. When finished, it would connect with east-west freeways between Fort Worth and Dallas City, like the State Highway 183, Interstate 20, and Interstate 30.
There are 58 parks within the city of Grand Prairie totaling an area of approximately 5,000 acres. Within these parks are five baseball and softball complexes, a senior centre, five public swimming pools, 32 tennis courts, 18 soccer fields, two beaches on Joe Pool Lake and a campground. Grand Prairie City has a number of competitive athletic programs.
The city has established a 1/4 sales tax that is put towards park improvements. With this $125 million, 20-year plan Grand Prairie aims to improve every park while continuing to add more and expand park land.
Although the city does offer several private golf courses and a county club the city of grand Prairie also has two affordable and remarkable public golf courses. Tangle Ridge is famous for its bentgrass greens and Hill Country atmosphere. The largest practice putting green in Texas can be found at Prairie lakes, which has one of the very best golf values within the region.
The top businesses within the city of Grand Prairie, as of the year 2008, are: Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control, Grand Prairie Independent School District, Bell Helicopter-Textron, Poly-America, Inc., Lone Star Park at Grand Prairie, Grand Prairie City and Vought Aircraft Industries.
The famous amusement park Six Flags runs its corporate office within the city of grand Prairie. The headquarters for American Eurocopter is also located in Grand Prairie City.
During the year 1978, American Airlines relocated from New York City to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. They leased two large office buildings for their new head office. The move to Fort Worth was completed when the airline left its Grand Prairie facility on January 17, 1983.
