 Forklift Attachments Waterbury - The city of Waterford, Connecticut is located roughly 33 miles southwest of Hartford and 77 miles northeast of New York City. The city of Waterford sits on the Naugatuck River right in the center of New Haven County. The population is projected to be approximately 110,360, making it New England's 9th largest city, the 5th biggest within Connecticut State, and the County's 2nd biggest.
The very first settlement took place during the year 1674 within an area known as Town Plot. This particular region was shortly vacated just after King Philip's War during 1675. The plot was later returned in the year 1677, within an area that was just slightly west of the original settlement. Both of these historic sites are marked. Originally the city was called "Mattatock" after the Algonquin word "Matetacoke", which means the "place without trees". When Waterbury was admitted to the colony of Connecticut on the 15th of May, 1686, it was renamed to the city of Waterbury. It was named the city of Waterbury after all of the streams which run into the Naugatuck River. During that time, Waterbury comprised numerous parts that will later become their own towns, such as Plymouth, Watertown, Wolcott, Prospect, Naugatuck, Middlebury and Thomaston.
The city earned its nickname "Brass City" because of its leading role in the manufacturing of brassware. The city of Waterbury is famous for its beautiful watches and clocks. The cities motto, "Quid Aere Perennius" is written in marble above the city hall entrance. "Quid Aere Perennius" when translated means "What Is More Lasting Than Brass?" Waterbury is famous for its vibrant art, advanced technology and gorgeous historic architecture.
Manufacturing remains the pulse of Waterbury economy. The city has on the other hand started to diversify its economy with the emergence of chemical research, warehouse and distribution, banking and retail sectors. The headquarters of Les-Care Kitchens is located within Waterbury, as is the headquarters of American Bank of Connecticut, Webster Financial Corp., QSend Technologies, Hubbard-Hall, and an assortment of other businesses.

There are several places within the city of Waterbury which cater to the artistic and cultural regions of the city. Among the attractions which could be found in Waterbury are the Palace Theater, that is a historic landmark dating back to the 1920's. One of the premiere attractions within Waterbury is the Palace Theatre. This historic landmark was built in the year 1920 and has recently gone through a $30 million restoration. One more attraction is the Mattatuck Museum. A wide variety of tours are offered, each featuring different aspects of architecture, the art, and Greater Waterbury Region history. The Timexpo Museum provides an extremely detailed history of the watch and clock business within the city of Waterbury. A picturesque, wonderful train ride through the Mattatuck State Forest is provided by the Railroad Museum of New England.
