 Forklift Attachments Overland Park - The city of Overland Park, Missouri is a suburb of the larger city of Kansas City and is situated in Johnson County. Overland Park is bounded by the cities of Olathe, Lenexa, Leawood and Prairie Village. It is Kansas City's largest suburb.
William B. Strang Jr. founded Overland Park in the year 1905. Strang envisioned communities of subdivisions that will be "park-like" and self-sustaining. Among these was Overland Park, a successful experiment that saw continuing growth up to its incorporation as a city during the year 1960. The city of Overland Park boomed during the 1980s as the number of companies and residents skyrocketed. By the end of that decade, the population was over 100,000.
Overland Park and Kansas City have several cultural attractions to provide visitors. The Nerman Museum has the biggest selection of contemporary art in the Midwest. The New Theatre Restaurant is a famed place that has been called "the best dinner theatre in the country." The Overland Park Arboretum & Botanical Gardens offers a spectacular series of gardens accessible by trails on a 300-acre place that comprises a children's discovery garden and waterfalls. The Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead is a favorite with children who can take a ride on a horse-drawn wagon, see farm animals and tour an early-twentieth century farmhouse replica.
In the city is 72 city parks that cover roughly 7.3 km2 of space. Numerous parks have facilities for biking and hiking, playgrounds, sand volleyball, tennis courts and basketball courts. Some have shelters that are reservable.
The city of Overland Park has the biggest mall within the area, the Oak Park Mall. It features over 200 stores and is the largest mall in the states of Kansas and Missouri. The city of Overland park is the home of Sprint Nextel world headquarters, which employs approximately 18,500 individuals and occupies 1 kmē of the city. Numerous Fortune 500 companies are headquartered here, such as YRC Worldwide, Black & Veatch, Examinetics, Waddell & Reed Ash Grove Cement Company and Ferrellgas.
Education provides substantial employment within the city of Overland Park, at school districts comprising Shawnee Mission, Blue Valley, Spring Hill and Olathe districts, along with Johnson County Community College.
